• A surgeon removes a patient’s gall bladder in an elective procedure, after the patient had only consented to have exploratory surgery done to determine what is wrong with him. The result is that he is off work for a week and loses a lucrative contract. Had he have known he would have arranged for the procedure to be done on another date.
