  • A psychiatrist prescribes a drug to deal with the depression being experienced by a patient who suffered head injuries in a car accident. The psychiatrist and the dispensing pharmacist fail to warn the patient against eating cheese while she is taking the drug. The patient continues to eat cheese regularly as part of her usual diet, and this makes her depression even worse. Eventually, she becomes so depressed that she commits suicide.

–Do you think that the psychiatrist negligent and pharmacist exercised the standard of care expected of practitioners in their respective fields of practice. Why or why not?
