Limitations on confidentiality Scenario

  • University students wishing to return to the campus have to take a COVID-19 test beforehand, and obtain a letter stating that the result is negative. Some of the students also wish to return to stay in the university residences. The COVID-19 test results letter also has to be shown to the University residence wardens. The students object to the University authorities, and the wardens knowing about their COVID-19 test results. They say that they have a Constitutional right to privacy, and the University has no need to know their COVID-19 status, because on campus everyone has to wear masks, practice social distancing and regularly use sanitizers.
